Fabric Book Pattern
I made this black & white contrast book for my baby when she was a few months old, and she loved it! Here’s a tutorial if you’d like to make one too. There are so many things you could do with this! Texture book, slow-stitch journal, memory keepsake — I decided to make The Seven Days of Creation For Babies.
Materials:
Fabric
Foam stabiliser or interfacing
Sewing machine
Needle & thread
Iron-on vinyl*
*Optional. I used Figma to create the designs and a Cricut to cut the vinyl, but you might like to sew, glue, paint, or any method you can imagine! :)

Step 1: Add your page designs to the right side of every piece of fabric. The diagram below shows the safe area for the page designs.
Make careful note of the correct order of your pages. Consecutive pages can span across different pieces of fabric. Below is how I ordered the pages in my creation story baby book:
Step 2: One signature at a time, stack the 2 layers of fabric right sides together and place the stabiliser on top of the stack. Sew these 3 layers together around the edges with a 1cm seam allowance, leaving about 7cm open on one edge to allow the piece to be turned.
Step 3: Turn the signature right side out and hand sew the opening closed.
Step 4 (optional): Sew a line down the middle of each signature. This helps the pages turn.
Repeat steps 2-4 for all signatures.
Step 5: Fold each signature in half and hold them together in what will be their final order in the book. Bind the signatures together by hand sewing a few connection points along the spine.
This is the method I used for binding 2 signatures. You may need to explore different options if you are using more than 2 signatures. For example, you could add buttonholes between the pages and tie them together with a ribbon.
Voila! Your book is complete. If you liked this tutorial, please rate it on Threadloop. Feel free to send me an enquiry if you have any questions, or to share photos of your book :)
